Ryaba

About this book

Ryaba is the fourth of the Birchwood Tales. Grandmother and Grandfather tap the golden egg with a spoon, a rolling pin and finally a good knock on the table edge, and nothing happens at all — a quiet joke that lands every time for a listener who can see where it is going. Like every book in the series it carries the complete story in English and in Russian on each page, and is told by Yozik the hedgehog of the Birch Vale, who came for the crumbs and stayed for the whole extraordinary morning.
