About this book

Repka is the third of the Birchwood Tales. It is the most repeatable story in the series — each new helper joins the line and the whole chant begins again, which is exactly what makes small children join in on the third or fourth telling. The turnip comes free only when Myshka, the very smallest helper of all, takes hold, and the book ends with the whole household at a long table under the birch tree. Every page carries the complete text in English and in Russian, told by Yozik the hedgehog, who was watching from the currant bush.
