About this book

Teremok is the second of the Birchwood Tales. Mouse, Frog, Hare, Fox and Wolf each knock at the little blue door and each are welcomed in, until the house is snug and full of friends — and then the Bear arrives. In this retelling nobody is cast out and nobody is punished: the animals forgive the great sorry Bear, and his strength is exactly what raises a new teremok big enough for everyone. The whole story appears in English and in Russian on every page, told by Yozik the hedgehog, who watched every knock from the ferns by the step.
